Laboratory of Experimental Economics in Agriculture, Food, Environment - FARE-Lab

Laboratory dedicated to research and teaching activities in the field of applied and experimental economics in the areas of agriculture, food and the environment.

In the lab, studies, tests, and analyses are carried out that extend from behavioural economics to marketing, from environmental economics to circular economics. In FARE-Lab, decision-making processes, individual preferences, business models, sustainability of agri-food systems and management of environmental resources are investigated.

• Studying strategic business decisions

• Studying the social interactions and relationships of agri-food chain operators

• Life cycle management analysis of agri-food products

• Assesment of environmental impacts

• Development of models for the study of ecosystem services and their evaluation.

Instrumentation available to the laboratory

• 18 fixed lab posts, 2 servers and 24 notebooks connected to the AlmaWiFi network

• Dedicated software (Qualtrics, Netica, oTree, NVivo, Ngene, STATA, SimaPro)

• Video-conferencing system for online experiment.

Services and consulting

The FARE-Lab is available for consultancy for market analyses, surveys on individual decision-making behaviour and patterns (e.g., consumers, farmers, citizens…), elaboration of business strategies and innovation choices, studies on the efficiency of production processes (LCA and LCC), estimation of ecological footprints, analysis of agri-food and environmental policies.

Teaching and Training Activities

FARE-Lab offers its resources to support teaching and training activities:

•  Development of Bachelor's and Master's theses

•  Development of research projects by doctoral and post-doctoral students

•  Applied and experimental economics exercises in bachelor's and master's degree courses.
