Upgrading of digested sludge obtained from biogas beef slaughter wastes and by-products into an organic nitrogen and phosphorus (NP) fertiliser. The project explores thermal processes conditon and soil nutrition performance of this NP fertiliser in order to utilise it in a safety and productive agricultural condition. The project supports the slaughtering industry in the transition to a fully circular approach of main by-products and organic waste obtained from such activities.

This project aims at reducing the use of chemical fertilisers for soil fertilisation and related beef production Carbon Footprint, improving energy-recovering rate of the plants involved, enhancing acceptance by Citizens and Authorities of beef agro-industrial system. The project improves actual agro food waste recycling biogas-based model replicable in a different communities and regions. The activity represents a further step in the transition to a fully circular model, increasing sustainability of the whole beef supply chain.
