PSR-GOI Emilia Romagna Region: Projects for research and innovation in agriculture

PSR 2014-2020

The 2014-2020 Rural Development Plan is a programme that invests in knowledge and innovation, stimulates the competitiveness of the agro-industrial sector, ensures the sustainable management of the environment and climate, and promotes balanced development of the local area and communities, including through leadership.

The European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability promotes innovation in agriculture by fostering collaboration between researchers, farmers, food companies, rural businesses, consultants and others involved in the agri-food sector.

Research policy - through the Horizon 2020 program - and rural development policy - through the Rural Development Programmes - are the main sources of funding available from the EU to achieve the objectives of the PEI AGRI. Horizon 2020 promotes the implementation of multi-actor projects and thematic networks, while Rural Development Programs promote the formation of Operational Groups (OGs) and the implementation of their projects.

These instruments use a common approach based on the interactive innovation model, in other words collaboration between different players which ensures the complementary use of multiple types of knowledge. This contributes to the creation and dissemination of innovative solutions that can be used directly in companies.
