Teacher-Student Joint Commission

Competencies

In each Department, there is a Teacher-Student Joint Commission  which, as the name suggests, is composed of an equal number of faculty members and students.

It is established by Law 240/2010 and by the University Statute.

It is governed by the Department’s operational regulations.

Functions

The Teacher-Student Joint Commission plays a key role in the University’s quality assurance system regarding teaching and student services, for all Degree Programs within the Department. The student members play an active role, contributing their perspectives, observations, and proposals for improvement.

The Commission:

  • is responsible for monitoring, using specific indicators, the educational offer, the quality of teaching, and student services;

  • provides opinions on the establishment, activation, modification, and discontinuation of degree programs;

  • can submit proposals to the Department Council on issues related to teaching and the allocation of financial resources;

  • drafts an annual report on the teaching activities of the Degree Programs under the Department’s responsibility.

Composition

The composition of the Teacher-Student Joint Commission is defined by the Department's regulations, ensuring balanced representation of professors and researchers by rank and service location, as well as students by study cycle and the location of educational activities.
