Deadlines for first cycle, second cycle and single cycle degree programmes
Matriculation in first cycle, second cycle and single cycle degree programmes without restricted access
- Ordinary Deadline: 22 July – 30 September 2021, unless indicated otherwise in the calls for applications and in any case by 25 November 2021.
- Deadline with payment of late enrolment fee: 1 October – 25 November 2021.
- Deadline to obtain the secondary school diploma abroad for conditional matriculation: 30 December 2021.
- Deadline to complete the matriculation: 28 February 2022 in the case of further requirements in addition to the payment of fees.
Matriculation in first cycle, second cycle and single cycle degree programmes with restricted access
- The deadlines set by the calls (including unallocated places) and in any case by 25 November 2021.
- Deadline to obtain the secondary school diploma abroad for conditional matriculation: 30 December 2021.
- Deadline to complete the matriculation: 28 February 2022 in the case of further requirements in addition to the payment of fees and with the exclusion of degree programmes with restricted access at national level with ministerial ranking.
Matriculation in second cycle degree programmes without restricted access
- Ordinary Deadline: 22 July – 28 October 2021 (unless indicated otherwise in the calls for applications and in any case by 25 November 2021).
- Deadline with payment of late enrolment fee: 29 October – 25 November 2021.
- Deadline to obtain the first cycle degree for conditional matriculations: 16 December 2021.
- Deadline to complete the matriculation: 28 February 2022 in the case of further requirements in addition to the payment of fees.
Matriculation in second cycle degree programmes with restricted access
- The deadlines set by the calls (including unallocated places) and in any case by 25 November 2021.
- Deadline to obtain the first cycle degree for conditional matriculations: 16 December 2021.
- Deadline to complete the matriculation: 28 February 2022 in the case of further requirements in addition to the payment of fees.
Application for the final examination - Ordinary deadlines and deadlines with payment of late enrolment fee
The Department Board, on a recommendation from the Degree Programme Boards and having heard the opinion of the relevant offices, jointly determines:
- the calendar of the final examinations.
- the deadline to apply for the final examination, which must be set after an interval of at least 20 days from the deadline for the requirements. Applications for the final examination may be accepted within no less than 4 days after the deadline for the requirements, subject to paying a special fee.
- the deadline to obtain the administration requirements needed to be admitted to the final examination for each exam session, which must be set after an interval of at least 20 days from the date of the exam session itself.
The final examination calendar and the relevant deadlines are published at least 60 days before the date of the first session of exams.
Submission of applications for the recognition of credits from previous study careers
From 22 July to 25 November 2021, except for degree programmes with restricted access at national level with ministerial ranking. After 25 November 2021 together with the matriculation.
Enrolment in years following the first
- Ordinary Deadline: 22 July – 30 September 2021.
- Deadline with payment of late enrolment fee: 1 October – 25 November 2021.
- Deadline with penalty fee after the deadline with payment of late enrolment fee: from 26 November 2021 to 30 September 2022.
Enrolment for part-time students
- Deadline: from 22 July to 25 November 2021.
Enrolment in individual learning activities
22 July 2021 - 15 April 2022, compatibly with the calendar of the lectures of the programmes chosen.
Based on the resolution of the Board of Governors of 25 September 2012, exceptions can be made to the above-mentioned general rule for a limited number of credits only in the event that the enrolment in newly introduced degree programmes of a higher level, whose admission rules were not previously known, requires the acquisition of credits in specific subject areas that were not mentioned in the teaching regulation of the degree programmes of origin.
Late applications to individual learning activities can be accepted subject to the payment of a penalty fee to achieve the credits necessary to apply by 15 July 2022.
Transfers to other universities
22 July – 23 December 2021
Exception to the 23 December 2021 deadline can be made if the destination programmes have restricted access, and only in the case of unallocated places.
Transfers from other universities
First cycle and single cycle degree programmes:
- ordinary deadline: from 22 July to 30 September 2021;
- deadline with late enrolment fee: from 1 October to 25 November 2021.
Second cycle degree programmes:
- ordinary deadline: from 22 July to 28 October 2021;
- deadline with late enrolment fee: from 29 October to 25 November 2021.
Without prejudice to different deadlines set in the calls for applications and in any case by 25 November 2021.
Changing degree programme at the University of Bologna
22 July - 25 November 2021, unless otherwise indicated in the calls for applications of the destination degree programmes and in any case by 25 November 2021 and subject to having enrolled for the new a.y. in the degree programmes of origin.

Individual study plans and activities of choice
Departments can decide on the presentation of individual study plans and the requests for exams of choice inside or outside of their degree programmes, either in one window, closing on 25 November 2021, or in two separate windows:
- one with an ordinary deadline, by the matriculation deadline of 25 November 2021; and
- one beyond the 25 November 2021 deadline, to end in time to participate in learning activities; the suggested time is during the lecture break between the I and II cycle (i.e. between the end of January and the beginning of the lectures in the second semester).
In any case, the deadline of the first window must be after the ordinary deadline to enrol in years following the first (30 September 2021).

- 1 November 2021 - start of degree programmes 37th cycle.
- 15 November 2021 - PhD programme degree 33rd cycle: end of final examination period for PhD students admitted in the second intake and in the first intake with study career extension.
- 17 December 2021 - PhD programme degree 34th cycle: deadline to transmit the evaluations to PhD students, ordinary session, first intake.
- 18 February 2022 - PhD programme degree 34th cycle: deadline to submit the dissertation on AMSDottorato for ordinary session PhD students, admitted in the first intake to the final exam.
- 15 March 2022 - PhD programme degree 34th cycle: start of final exam period, ordinary session, for PhD students admitted in the first intake.
- 15 April 2022 - PhD programme degree 34th cycle: end of final exam period, ordinary session, for PhD students admitted in the first intake.
- 15 June 2022 - PhD programme degree 34th cycle: deadline for the submission of the thesis on PhD Thesis Review for PhD students whose evaluators postponed the public dissertation to the second intake.
- 30 September 2022 - PhD programme degree 34th cycle: deadline to upload the dissertation on AMSDottorato for PhD students admitted in the second intake.
- 14 October 2022 - PhD programme degree 35th cycle: deadline to submit the application to the final exam and payment of the fee to obtain the degree certificate.
