The CO-FRESH project aims to provide techniques, tools and insights on how to make agri-food value chains more environmentally sustainable, socio-economically balanced and economically competitive. The project implements technological and non-technological innovations in several pilots of agri-food value chains, to test how the combination of technological and non-technological (i.e. organisational) innovations at several levels and steps (from farmer to the food-processing to consumer) can improve environmental and socio-economic benefits impact in terms of sustainability.

Within such a framework, the workshop “Identification, analysis and design of innovative and sustainable agri-food value chains” (chaired by the University of Wageningen) will particularly focus on:

- the identification of innovative and sustainable agri-food value chains all over Europe (Wageningen University);

- the development of a portfolio of innovative sustainable business models (Universidad de Almeria);

- the study of the impact of public policies on sustainable innovation in agri-food chains (Università di Bologna).
