The DISTAL web section on Plant Variety Rights is on line, the result of a long research of the Arboriculture Area dedicated to genetic improvement projects is now available.

Long since the Department of Agriculture and Food Sciences has been engaging in breeding that produced numerous varieties of cherry, pear, apple and kiwi. These varieties are now protected as Plant Rights, owned by the University of Bologna, and, in some cases, already suitable on the market.

Fundamental to achieve this important goal were the partnerships with companies of the fruit production field and the technological transfer activities, that increasingly distinguishes the academic world and the University of Bologna.
