Fruit and grape quality and technology lab
Fruit and grape quality traits are assessed in this lab, with the goal of assessing new selections/cultivars, to document the effect of management techniques, or phenotyping genotypes.
The main characters measured include:
• Maturity, via non-destructive, as well as destructive methods
• External and internal quality traits, such color, size, flesh firmness, acidity, soluble solids, dry matter content, etc.
• Biochemical parameters: ethilene, organic acids, sugars, phenolic compounds, etc.

Sampling and laboratory analyses of fruit quality traits
The lab provides services to clients needing a fruit quality profile of their own materials, for most temperate fruit species and grapes.

Teaching and internships
The lab offers students the chance to carry out an internship, or a thesis project, both for undergraduate and MSc. Degrees. It routinely hosts PhD students from italian and foreign institutions. It is one of the research facilities of the DISTAL Graduate School. Post-docs and Erasmus exchangees are amongst the users of the lab’s facilities.
