The workshop aims at discussing the different challenges faced by urban farmers and will be exploring technological solutions available for vegetable crop production in urban environments in Africa and beyond. The role of urban production in promoting the transformation of urban and city region food systems will be also explored. The workshop targets urban farming entrepreneurs, horticulturists, suppliers of technology, practitioners in volved in urban food systems, investors and policy makers, developers as well as researchers. The audience will be invited to share their experiences with respect to financial barriers and enablers. The workshop is organized in the framework of a collaboration between the International Society of Horticultural Science (ISHS) and the FAO. Prof. Francesco Orsini (Università di Bologna, DISTAL) will be one of the convenors of the event, together with Prof. Stefania De Pascale (Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II) and Guido Santini (FAO).
