After three years of research and collaboration, the Horizon Europe project CHORIZO – Changing practices and Habits through Open, Responsible, and social Innovation towards ZerO food waste is coming to an end. The final conference will take place on 16 September 2025 in Brussels, jointly organised with another Horizon Europe project on food waste prevention, ZeroWaste. The event will bring together researchers, policymakers, food system professionals, and civil society organisations to discuss innovative approaches for reducing food waste. The research group at DISTAL has worked on developing predictive models to investigate how social norms influence behaviours linked to food waste generation, both at the household level and in hospitality contexts. These activities aim to identify effective interventions and targeted strategies to promote more sustainable practices. Among the key outcomes of the project is the Rapid Appraisal/Visualizer Tool (https://scenarios.chorizoproject.eu/), a digital platform that translates simulation results into interactive, narrative scenarios, making them accessible to a wide range of users—from researchers and policymakers to practitioners. The tool will also be presented during one of the sessions of the final conference.
Participation is open upon registration, and the event will also be accessible online to ensure wider engagement.
